The JAECOO 6 EV is the first all-electric compact SUV from Chery's premium sub-brand, JAECOO, serving as a core pillar in the marque's global expansion strategy. The vehicle made its global premiere in Thailand in March 2024 and has since rolled out to various international markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Russia, and Hong Kong, positioned as an accessible, youth-oriented all-electric off-road SUV. The JAECOO brand focuses on the urban off-road SUV segment and operates overseas under the OMODA & JAECOO dual-brand banner, where OMODA targets mainstream global export markets whilst JAECOO specialises in urban off-road SUVs. Built on the same architecture as the Chery iCAR 03, the JAECOO 6 EV features an all-aluminium body construction and an electric all-wheel drive (AWD) system, going head-to-head against key rivals such as the BYD Atto 3 and MG ZS EV. In the Thai market, the SUV is offered in three variants—RWD Long Range, RWD Long Range Pro, and AWD Long Range—with prices ranging from 899,000 to 1,249,000 THB (approx. RM180,000 to RM250,000). In Hong Kong, indicative pricing stands at around HKD 259,000 to HKD 269,000 (approx. RM235,000 to RM245,000).
The JAECOO 6 EV adopts an instantly recognisable "boxy" styling silhouette, combining rugged, angular proportions with retro flair and modern high-tech cues. The front fascia is headlined by "i"-shaped LED digital command light clusters, an illuminated brand emblem, and prominent "i"-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) that define its signature family look. Down the sides, clean, muscular character lines are paired with flush pop-out door handles, while squared-off wheel arches and chunky black protective cladding underscore its off-road DNA. At the rear, it features a side-hinged soft-close tailgate alongside an external storage box styled after a classic tailgate-mounted spare tyre carrier, adding practical outdoor appeal. The JAECOO 6 EV is available in six quirky exterior colours: "Chill Green", "No Stress Silver", "True White", "Pitch Black", "Just Grey", and "Moody Blue". The cabin continues the rugged off-road theme, where metallic accents on the air vents and crystal control dials create a striking contrast with the full digital instrument cluster and the 15.6-inch floating infotainment touchscreen. Premium soft-touch plastics and extensive leather upholstery elevate perceived cabin quality, redefining expectations for traditional rugged 4x4s. Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height, with a 2,715 mm wheelbase and a laden minimum ground clearance of 195 mm. Boot capacity stands at 450 litres, expandable to 1,238 litres with the rear seats folded.
The JAECOO 6 EV is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The RWD variant is powered by a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 135 kW (184 PS) and 220 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 150 km/h. The AWD variant upgrades to dual permanent magnet synchronous motors delivering a combined output of 205 kW (279 PS) and 385 Nm of torque, slashing the 0-100 km/h sprint to just 6.5 seconds, while matching the 150 km/h top speed. Battery-wise, the RWD variant is fitted with a 65.69 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, whereas the AWD variant receives a larger 69.77 kWh pack. Under NEDC ratings, driving range is rated at 426 km for the RWD and 418 km for the AWD; under the WLTP cycle, range figures stand at 371 km (RWD) and 364 km (AWD); while CLTC figures reach up to 501 km. Energy consumption is rated at 17.9 kWh/100 km for the RWD and 19.0 kWh/100 km for the AWD. For charging, DC fast charging supports up to 80–85 kW, taking approximately 30 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%. AC charging is supported at 6.6 kW, requiring around 10.5 hours for a full charge. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) reverse power capability comes standard across the range, with optional roof-mounted solar charging panels also available.
Underneath, the JAECOO 6 EV utilises an all-aluminium body-in-white and chassis structure. Its all-aluminium frame technology enhances torsional rigidity by approximately 30%, delivering the structural strength of a ladder-frame chassis without compromising the ride comfort of a monocoque platform. The RWD model features a rear-motor rear-wheel drive layout, while the AWD model uses a dual-motor electric all-wheel drive setup. The suspension setup consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link independent setup at the rear. Braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs, paired with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold as standard. Tyre specifications are 225/55 R19 on the AWD model and 225/60 R18 on the RWD model. The JAECOO 6 EV offers nine drive modes in total; beyond standard Eco, Normal, and Sport modes, dedicated off-road terrains including Snow, Mud, and Sand are available to tackle both tarmac and unpaved trails. Regional media reviews in the Philippines highlighted its commendable NVH insulation and instantaneous, linear power delivery, though noticeable body roll was observed during spirited high-speed cornering.
The interior of the JAECOO 6 EV blends modern in-car technology with upscale finishes. A 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central infotainment display come standard, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Higher-spec variants gain a premium 12-speaker audio system and 64-colour rhythmic ambient lighting. Leather-wrapped seats are standard, with the driver's seat featuring 6-way power adjustment with memory, an electric ottoman leg rest, and massage functions, while the front passenger seat also benefits from ventilation and massage capabilities for enhanced long-distance touring comfort. The rear seats offer split-folding functionality alongside dedicated rear air conditioning vents and USB charging ports. Other amenities include a 1.2 m² panoramic glass roof, a wireless smartphone charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a powered tailgate.
In terms of passive safety, the JAECOO 6 EV features a high-strength cage body structure with extensive use of hot-formed high-strength steel, further reinforced by its all-aluminium frame. On the active safety front, the vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) integrating up to 19 safety functions. Key features include full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA). The ADAS suite operates on a vision-only perception setup with cameras supplied by DJI. A 360-degree surround-view camera system and front/rear parking sensors are also standard. On the safety testing front, the OMODA & JAECOO brand secured the maximum five-star safety rating in the 2025 Euro NCAP crash tests.
Since its introduction, the JAECOO 6 EV has generated strong market interest worldwide. Its debut in Thailand marked a major milestone in JAECOO's global strategy, drawing significant attention from local buyers thanks to its rugged retro-futuristic boxy styling and all-aluminium construction. In safety assessments, both OMODA and JAECOO achieved five-star Euro NCAP ratings in 2025, with the JAECOO 7 scoring over 80% in adult occupant protection. Parent company Chery Group posted cumulative global sales of 2,810,000 vehicles in 2025 (+7.8% YoY), of which exports reached 1,340,000 units (+17.4% YoY), retaining its crown as China's top passenger car exporter for 23 consecutive years. In February 2026, JAECOO recorded sales of approximately 3,005 units in Indonesia, ranking seventh overall. Serving as a spearhead for the brand's global EV ambitions, the JAECOO 6 EV establishes a distinct competitive edge in the compact electric SUV space through its unique styling, all-aluminium platform, dual-motor AWD capability, and rich tech suite, cementing its role as a pivotal model in Chery's right-hand-drive (RHD) market offensive.
